Ερ: How is the ssd powered? Does the USB port connection supply the required voltage for a ssd? I've been reading that an ssd needs 5v

Praxig Generally, there is no need to supply power to the SSD. If power is required, the board will have a power supply line, which can be powered directly from the Raspberry Pi GPIO.
