I like 'em warm and throwy, so I had to try the XP-L HI in the 3000 K U3-7A. Beautiful beam tint, and the new firmware works fine. By default, 5 brightness levels from low to high plus 3 blinkies: strobe and biking / stutter beam and battery check / beacon. Click to turn on, short tap to advance through modes, long tap to return to first mode, and click to turn off. Starts in lowest mode unless you enter config mode to 1) select a different mode group or 2) turn on mode memory. Remembers every mode including strobe, biking, and battery check. Using a high drain IMR for 3 minutes on high, the light got warm but not hot and did not appear to step down. Large double lanyard holes allow tail stand. Pretty silver finish is relatively slippery, so I guess it will be easier to clean but it is harder to hold on to. First impression: very good quality in a proven format with modern features for a good price.
