clarkem The LedControl library I used quoted 2 as the maximum to daisy chain, 8 blocks. I used proportionally spaced text to maximise characters. I can't see why you shouldn't use 3, unless there's some kind of bus load issue? If it works, messages to the last module will be comparatively slow. You send a dummy message to the first module to tell it to relay the message to the next. You'll need 11 dummy messages to reach the last one! Note that the LedControl library hard limits you to 8 blocks, though I guess you could alter that.
