I sure would not feed anything close to 7 1/2 V at 4 A into this thing… I’m sure it would kill it. Having said that, even with an input closer to half that, you still get a good long bright spark, and a wicked loud snap. You could probably get usable output by powering it with no more than a USB rechargeable power supply. Running one output through a large diameter needle and aimed at a little aluminum grid connected to the other output, about an Inch and a half away, I-got a nice flow of negative ions that I could feel with my hand, and the smell was immediately noticeable. I think the best way to get a good gap distance is to get it hooked up and slowly move the grid towards the needle until you can see a nice purple corona at the very tip of the needle. Much easier to do in the dark, obviously. That’s what I use these for, as I have found that it really does make a difference in the air quality, removing stale odors, reducing dust, and I totally agree with the research that has shown that people work better, become less fatigued, and generally have a better mood when there are plenty of negative ions in the room. It just adds a freshness and purity to the air that I find very pleasant. In fact, I think this subject is under researched… I wish someone would do some controlled studies to see if food in your refrigerator in the dark would stay fresher longer, and mold would be held at bay with a combination of negative ions, and a UV light that came on intermittently when the door was closed.

Ερ: which is positive and negative terminals?

Ερώτηση από UmangNGoel επί 2018-10-10 12:35:56

KKennyY It doesn’t matter as long as they are all the same. The worse that can happen is that they will be out of phase. Some people can tell just by listening. Touch the terminals to a 9v battery and note if the cone moves out or in, and write down which polarity did what. Every other speaker in your system must react in the same way, so if all the other ones move outward if connected plus to plus, or red to plus, (for example), then whatever terminal on your new speaker you had connected to the 9v battery’s plus (+) terminal that caused the diaphragm to move outward in your test, you label it as the positive. (I use a dot of red nail polish). Note of caution: don’t leave the 9v connected to the speaker any more than a split second, because it will become red-hot very quickly. Have your finger on the cone and just quickly touch the connection and determine if the cone moved away from your finger or towards it. (Getting a second opinion never hurts either). Just remember that voice-coil wire is very tiny gauge, and heats up very fast, and will melt the glue or lacquer, and even catch fire within seconds. (I try to find one that has been used and is only putting out 6,7,8 volts ... it only needs to be sufficient to move the cone enough for you to detect if it jumped TOWARD THE MAGNET, or AWAY from it.) this may sound complicated, but it really isn’t; it’s just something that takes a lot of words to describe; re-read it a second time and it probably will make more sense. The

KKennyY I’m wanting to use something like this as a negative ion generator; or ozone generator. Does this produce a continuous arc, or is this the tick tick tick kind? When you use it do you smell ozone or detect negative ions?

KKennyY I have mine mounted horizontally on a couple of small angle brackets, and keep a small USB portable power supply (about the size of a masquera) plugged in to it all the time with a short cable. The little light hangs underneath (it has a magnet) and the charger sits on top. I fully charge the light and the power pack before I put it in place, and it lasts a couple of weeks at least. When it gets dim, If I’m in a hurry, I just put a freshly charged power pack on it, and charge the original one back up, and keep it close by. I don’t even have to take the light down to swap out power packs. I think it makes it a little brighter, and probably doubles or triples the endurance. One thing, the kind of charger that has an ‘on’ button won’t really work very well. Just get the cheapies that just plug in and go. Hope this helps- I LOVE these little things - I wish I had a dozen. Good luck!

KKennyY Beautiful paint job! That blue is stunning! I’d love to see what you would do with a F/A 18 Hornet in the Blue Angels paint scheme.

Ερ: which side heat released

Ερώτηση από chigilipalli pradeep kumar επί 2018-05-14 09:30:32

KKennyY When wired convention Way, videos, red positive black negative, the hot side will always have the largest heat sink, largest fan, etc. since overheating it is much more dangerous to the equipment then getting too cold. If the polarity is reversed, device works in reverse. Hot and cold salads swap places. If a temperature differential is applied to the sides of the device, it will generate current.
