D_man97 Race Ranger always gets hot, work ok, I did 3km in medium-interference environment, it needs plenty of ventilation, I got it for a dron, where that's not a problem when flying. sitting on the table, yes it gets hot even at 200, but not to dangerous levels, even after an hour of work it works fine. but 1.6 with little ventilation is definitely a problem. you'd have to mount it outside, or make some air holes and have good airflow over it.

_Red It's normal for vtx to become super hot even at low transmit power. They require ventilation, when flying the airflow cools them down. If you want, you can use a small blower fan for active cooling.

BG555223385 I know that vtx gets hot, this is not the first time I use it, there will be no problem using it for FPV drone, there will be plenty of air flow. However, in fixed wings, it should be fixed outside and in a place where airflow will be good. What I want to say is that while my other vtx's with 800 mw power do not heat up so suddenly and so much, this vtx's heating up more than normal is a real problem. If I have to put a fan at 1.6w, why don't they design it as a model with a fan from the beginning?
